Stuff, stuff, stuff

Back from a weekend away with The Ent’s family.  All of us were pretty knackered and just past out last night, lol

We pottered about Clitheroe and went to Blackpool on Sunday to see the Doctor Who Exhibition there.  Most of it was fairly ropey, old stuff and they one displayed a few items from series one, but the shop was good *grin*

I didn’t get much written over the weekend – 95 words – so Awakening has just crawled over 8k.  And that’s the amount I wrote for Sven for last week.  Last Wednesday when 200 words struggled out, I thought I’d end the week on 3k if I was lucky.  So I’m happy.

Why I did no writing…

…or the nightmare that you have to go through to get support for a mentally handicapped child.

Frodo had his fifth joint assessement yesterday…and the result? A date for his sixth joint assessment sometime in April. *sigh*

Going into detail would probably make me more explosive than Vesuvius-on-crack again.  At one point, I wanted to scream and run out of the room.  We got precisely nowhere again.   So we’re going ahead with the statement tribunal to see if that puts a rocket under someone.

It’s all about money.  Frodo needs full time 0ne-to-one support and the question no one will answer is: Who is going to pay for it?

So in the meantime, Frodo gets ten minutes a week from the inclusion service, SENISS and that’s it. The Ent and I came home, sorted the hobbits and then both passed out from emotional exhaustion.  Then this morning my kidney kicked off.  Stress factor 9 for both of us, I think *sigh*

Going away now to make tea and calm down.

Sven is back…

…and am I ready?  Probably not.

I have a list of six wips that I’d like to make a dent in, though I haven’t got the final 3k from Lost Gods that I wanted to get this week.  It’s tougher to plug in the extra wordage than I thought… 😉

I got 850 (Sven 3’s minimum this time around) written by midnight on it though, so it stands at 47002.  It was a bit of relief as we had a plasterer for 5.5 hours fixing the bodgy mess the engineer had made installing the french windows.  Then we had to go shopping, sort the hobbits out, eat, shout at CSI:NY a lot and try to write over The Ent’s snores.

So today’s plan is to make a bit more of a dent in Lost Gods and plan out what I have to write for the contemporary I want to finish, Golden Cupid.  And that’s the working title, honest, hehe

To help me, I think I need a little…prodding…

Master Mot 4

Thirty whole hours…

…without the internet.

Yes, I was going slightly mental.  I lost all concentration while trying to write.  I have ‘mental rests’ in between scribblings. I had no idea how vital they were, until I tried to write Friday and Saturday, lol

Anyway, The Ent got it sorted after much hassle with Ornage and it came back around 10pm last night.  We then both feverishly feed our addiction to all things webby for about 3 hours… *phew*

Now The Ent’s taken the Hobbits to Yellow Sub to run around for a couple of hours, giving me the chance to post about Past Lies on the Samhain blog.  I need peace and quiet and acres of time to navigate the intricacies of that blog! lol  But it’s done – hurrah – so now time for breakfast and getting back to Lost Gods.

I should have the first draft of that done today/tomorrow – then I have to go back and fill in all the plot points I discovered while writing it, lol

One more day to go…

Samwise was in nursery this morning and Frodo is back tomorrow. Yay. Hopefully I can get back to the writing schedule that saw me through November. I’ve been trying to write about 1000 words a day… and I’ve managed that so far since Thursday – though Saturday didn’t really happen as we were in Nottingham.

So while the hobbits fight over Thunderbird 2 (they can fight over anything *sigh*) I get to update my blog. Lost Gods hit the 10 000 word mark this morning. I still have more to write as it’s only about 500 words of my total, but I need the incentive. So, I ‘ve given myself a reward.

The Master is not quite so loose with his favours as the Colonel… 😉

Catching up

So… I’m back to writing Fracture, LOL I’ve given into the fact that it’s a much longer story that I planned, and because of that I can also give into the general explosion of plot bunnies this story has generated. I’m still not certain whether it’s a 50/60k novel or 3 novellas. But now I’m officially half way through. I’ll write it and see.

My kidney pain has subsided, for the most part. I’m still getting the odd twinge. My ability to stay awake has seriously deteriorated though! Taking the hobbits to school and pre-school has me exhausted. Now what used to be writing time has turned into sleeping time *sigh*

I also had a release this week. It’s part of a winter anthology from Freya’s Bower.

Winter Gift

A Winter’s Gift by Kim Rees
Siobhan Kerr has been dumped. Again. She has no clue why her love life is such a disaster. Mr Right is too often Mr Wrong. So she does what she always does when she screws up… she runs home.

Her friend Ethan Jacoby, is waiting. However, Ethan has his own agenda as he faces yet another of Siobhan’s collapsing relationships. And with the help of an ancient temple, he plans to prove to Siobhan that the right man is closer to her than she ever believed possible…

And go here for an excerpt.

One final thing I’ll be doing today…hunting for screen caps for Stargate Atlantis’ Miller’s Crossing. When I find them and post, you’ll see why… *smirk*

Appointments away!

Made it to the doctor this morning, just about on time. It decided to rain heavily just as we left the house. Luckily Samwise’s Benji Bear was in a plastic bag and Frodo’s three dinosaurs were in my pocket. Benji Bear is a reward toy from Samwise’s pre-school. Samwise has him as an almost permanent attachment to his left armpit *sigh*

So we ended up with an optician’s appointment for Samwise in early January, via the NHS’s ‘choose and book’ scheme. You’re supposed to be able to do it online. The GP pointed out that only 3 people had actually managed this that she knew of, lol. Though this isn’t surprising as it’s not supported in Firefox or Safari…obviously it’s IE all the way! *grrr*

Frodo’s MRI she’s sending a letter for and talking to the Paediatrician. I have to call back in three weeks as the requests often go astray in the hospital system. Hopefully, he will get an MRI as simple observation and testing doesn’t seem to be getting the professionals anywhere fast. Might be the first time they can actually work out what Frodo’ss thinking 😉

On the Sven front. I was a bad monkey. I wrote 300 words yesterday and stopped to work out the rest of the plot. It’s the final act – odd the way this story has fallen neatly into a 3 act structure. Unfortunately, I fell asleep till…well…this morning. So I have still to plot and hopefully write. First I have to wait for Grandma Gandalf to arrive and entertain Samwise…

Tired out

Got back late from The Ent’s parents’ Silver Wedding Anniversary meal (no, The Ent is not a toy boy…would I get that lucky? 😉 ) and we’ve spent the day generally vegging.

I dragged out 750 words on Fracture when all that I wanted to do was watch the Top 40 Spice Girl songs.  Yes, that’s how much I didn‘t want to write.  Absolutely anything was preferable.  But they’re done and the story is heading for the 20k mark, which means I must get a reward ready, *grin*

Now I have to watch The Sarah Jane Adventures.  Just to keep the hobbits company of course…

I might start writing today

The lurgy is still with me – though now it’s settled into an annoying cough and my voice as gone all deep and husky, lmao

I’ve been working on Fracture, mainly trying to beef up the relationship of the two leads before I plunge into the last part of the story.  They’re not playing… *sigh*

And today, after much argument I finally managed to make an appointment at my doctors.  God forbid you should want to go there at a time that’s almost convenient to you *grrr*  I want a referral for Samwise’s eyes – he was short sighted as a baby and we were told to get him checked again when he was three.  I also want to get an MRI scan for Frodo.

It’s a major step, but since the-most-unprofessional-paediatrician-in-the-world has labelled him ADHD (with no explanation why and wants to throw Ritalin down his throat) we’re going with another’s view that an MRI might achieve something in finding out what’s wrong with him.

The clocks have gone back…

…and did I get any benefit from it?  No *sigh*

The hobbits got up even earlier and though they went to bed an hour before they usually do, they didn’t go to sleep.  The good news today is that school/pre-school starts again. YAY  Hopefully by the time the next school holiday swings around, we’ll have a garden finished enough so that they can work off their considerable energy there, rather than in the house.  I never had their energy, both The Ent and I are convinced of it, LOL

On the Sven front:  I got just over a 1k written on Fracture.  Fingers crossed that I carry on at this rate and it’s finished up by the end of November *grin*
