I made it!

I wrote the minimum goal for Sven yesterday.

At the start, I didn’t think I’d get anything written and at 9pm last night I was still only about a 100 words in.  I thought about closing the laptop, vegging, shouting a bit more at CSI: Miami, reading a book, but I didn’t, I plugged on.  Just before midnight I got to 770 words.

I’m glad I did now, even though the words are probably crap and I’ll have to change/cut them anyway.  I pushed myself – which is not like me – and actually got to my goal – which is not like me either, LOL.  So hopefully I’m instilling some good routines through Sweat70 that I’ll retain Post Sven.  Fingers crossed.

A good Sven-day

Yesterday I got over 1000 words written on Weaving Words which was very unexpected and very nice.  That was the limit on that story for the day though, LOL  I couldn’t squeeze anything more out, so I tried one of the short stories I need to finish and managed a whopping 44 words *grin*

I made a bunch of new Colonel icons to spur me on and then I started to flag.

Finally, I succumbed and read through Satin Spar.  It was better than I remembered, amazing what even a few days of leaving it alone will do, and it only a few of the loose ends needed tying up.  So… I did that.  Then I wrote a scarily easy synopsis and blurb… then oops, I subbed it.

Satin Spar is the first erotic romance I’ve written and I have my nails bitten down to the elbow.

Now I intend not thinking about it, at all, LOL

A Sven-day off

I had post-going-out sniffles yesterday and I’ve still got them today. So… writing wise, I didn’t get much done. I did plot out a bit more of the ending of Weaving Words. I’m still trying to get my head around how the climax is going to play out. It’s still a bit of a jumble, but I think I almost have it.

I went to bed early to read and got annoyed instead. I hate it when characters have very convenient abilities just at the right time and you as the reader had no clue of this before hand.

‘I’m just this completely ordinary, but plucky woman, who can, oooh look, handle a sword like a pro and can drive like a bank robber’s get-away-man. Didn’t I give you a hint of my convenient hobbies/skills before? No? Really? Ah, well.’

*grrrr*

Anyway this morning, I sat down and splurged words and scrabbled out just over 750 words. Which is very nice.

Trying to write a sex scene

And the place not to do it is in the middle of an old warehouse that’s been turned into a children’s soft play centre. *sigh*

I was completely paranoid that adults, staff, children passing the table would try to read over my shoulder. I was the only person in the vast space with a laptop, to I had the curiosity factor against me. Normally, I’m not so twitchy and people will nose…but this time and this particular scene had be bouncing the file open and shut every five minutes. Needless to say, in the time I was there – about an hour and a half – I only got about 300 words written, LOL

I am edging ever closer to the end, though. Which is cool.

On the Sven front:

I got over 1500 words written yesterday and I started to read through Weaving Words, to try to get a handle on that story again.

And soon I’ll be able to post my first reward icon… *squeeee*

Okay, what’s wrong with me…

…because I had another good day of writing. 1211 on Satin Spar and 319 on Fracture (which I shouldn’t have jumped into yet… but the temptation was there so I took it.)

It seems to be a combination of things:

1. The end of the story for Satin Spar. I always write fast as I come to the end of a story as I finally have a good idea about the plot and the characters by this point. 😉

2. Sweating with Sven. There’s something encouraging about knowing 300 people are doing exactly the same thing and are sharing it on their blogs and on loops. It’s more personal than NaNo.

3. The Colonel. I have a reward icon that I’m not allowing myself to post until I finish Satin Spar. Sad, but there it is. It is a very nice icon though *grin*

So, hopefully I’ll get my minimum word count out this morning as this afternoon I have to go to Frodo’s school to watch the infants perform a dance. The invite says Salsa. My mind is boggling, LOL

Spiders… *shudder*

It’s been wet here all summer and that according to some sources The Ent found that means that it’s been a great time for spiders.

This definitely seems to be the case in our house. They are bloody everywhere. And not just little cute money spiders, but the ones that are all legs and teeny tiny bodies. I came down one morning to find the first makings of a web from my front windows to the couch!

So to this morning. Samwise wanted to draw. He has a large gift bag that he got from a recent wedding and it’s full of paper and pens and crayons. He sticks his little hand in it… and shrieks. There’s a spider in the bag. And not a little one. This one is four inches across and its legs are long and its body is big. It looks like an Arachnophobia spider. Eeep.

I am not the best shoo-er away of spiders in the world and this one creeped me out big time. So, we left the mega-beast in the bag and I took Samwise to pre-school, with the promise that I would shake the spider out into the garden.

I’ve just done that, and I still have goosebumps. *shudder*

To Sven news. I got 1300 written yesterday so my first 3 day total was 2869 which is fab, LOL I also made myself a new Colonel icon which I’ll post when I finish Satin Spar. Yay.

Checking in

So… I met the daily minimum word count for Sweat70. Yesterday’s words I tried to hack out before Stargate Atlantis came on at 8pm. Almost made it… and then had to watch as those bad, bad SGA writers killed my ship *waaahh*

Not that there was much emotion. Elizabeth Weir is always too stoic and well, Joe Flanigan aka John Sheppard, while nice to look at, isn’t all there in the acting department *sigh*

That over and the few extra words clawed out, I also plotted halfway through Fracture which should be an interesting and complicated one to write. Complicated? Which story of mine doesn’t have more twists and turns than a twisty-turny-thing on its holiday at Twisty-Turny-World…?

Sven says sweat

Sven says Sweat!!

I signed up for the Seventy Days of Sweat Writing Challenge. You can find it here

Basically, I want to finish and sub around 6 stories. 5 are started and one is a teeny tiny sparkle in my eye. The list is, in likely order:

Weaving Words
Satin Spar
The Honourable Lady
Unnamed psi romance ~ yes this is the sparkle one…
Chosen
Bone Magician

If I get 4 done of that lot I’ll be a very happy camper. It doesn’t help that on the very day I start, Frodo has gone down with something, LOL Though I have 23 days of skiving off built into the challenge. *phew*
