The end of Sven

The master 7

Sweat with Sven ends today and my official count when I signed in this morning was…

84 008.

I know I wouldn’t have written that much in a normal, unSven 3 month period so it definitely worked for me. I now know I can write abut 750-1000 come rain or shine (well crappy kidney did stop play for awhile 😉 ) and I’m addicted to watching that word count increase day by day. I have 2 excel spreadsheets dedicated to it.

They’ll start talk of a new Sven in February. I am so there!

A sale!

I sold one of my finished Sven stories to Wild Child Publishing, for their Star Stepping anthology *grin*  It’s called The Honourable Lady.  Here’s the blurb – which may change, as I wrote it 😉

Royal Officials are vanishing and Evia-ben-Thiak doesn’t intend to be one of them.

As a high-ranking member of the Court, she fears for her life.  So, she takes the only option open to her.  She hides on a boat sailing to her home-island.

However, the boat is not the sanctuary she hoped for.  A friend from her childhood, the now-feared sorcerer, Makovik is also onboard. To be seen with him could end her career; have her thrown in the deepest dungeon.  But more than that, she finds he has a plan.

And his actions will change her life forever…

One more day to go…

Samwise was in nursery this morning and Frodo is back tomorrow. Yay. Hopefully I can get back to the writing schedule that saw me through November. I’ve been trying to write about 1000 words a day… and I’ve managed that so far since Thursday – though Saturday didn’t really happen as we were in Nottingham.

So while the hobbits fight over Thunderbird 2 (they can fight over anything *sigh*) I get to update my blog. Lost Gods hit the 10 000 word mark this morning. I still have more to write as it’s only about 500 words of my total, but I need the incentive. So, I ‘ve given myself a reward.

The Master is not quite so loose with his favours as the Colonel… 😉

Trying to get back on the writing wagon

December was mostly a wash out. I probably got about 10000 words during the whole month.

So I made my resolution today to try to get back into my Sven routine. Fracture – which I’m going to read through right now – is a bit of a nightmare. I’ve got to about 16k on Chosen. But at the minute I’ve been inspired to tackle Lost Gods again.

I just hit 5104 words on that… So, I’m reinstigating my reward system *grin* The Colonel will be sharing the system with someone else in 2008… The Master.

Odd inspiration

So this is ‘The Suit” that jumped out at me while watching SGA Miller’s Crossing on Tuesday. I had a bugger of a time finding an image. In the end, I found some here .

It happened at the exact time that I was getting back into Fracture and everything in that episode resonated with my hero. This includes how Sheppard resolves the problem at the end. Not spoiling anything, but say hello to the darkside, John Sheppard. Joe Flanigan has apparently labelled his character a ‘pretty, pretty psycho princess’. My hero from Fracture? Yep, he’s going with the first three on that one, lol

Catching up

So… I’m back to writing Fracture, LOL I’ve given into the fact that it’s a much longer story that I planned, and because of that I can also give into the general explosion of plot bunnies this story has generated. I’m still not certain whether it’s a 50/60k novel or 3 novellas. But now I’m officially half way through. I’ll write it and see.

My kidney pain has subsided, for the most part. I’m still getting the odd twinge. My ability to stay awake has seriously deteriorated though! Taking the hobbits to school and pre-school has me exhausted. Now what used to be writing time has turned into sleeping time *sigh*

I also had a release this week. It’s part of a winter anthology from Freya’s Bower.

Winter Gift

A Winter’s Gift by Kim Rees
Siobhan Kerr has been dumped. Again. She has no clue why her love life is such a disaster. Mr Right is too often Mr Wrong. So she does what she always does when she screws up… she runs home.

Her friend Ethan Jacoby, is waiting. However, Ethan has his own agenda as he faces yet another of Siobhan’s collapsing relationships. And with the help of an ancient temple, he plans to prove to Siobhan that the right man is closer to her than she ever believed possible…

One final thing I’ll be doing today…hunting for screen caps for Stargate Atlantis’ Miller’s Crossing. When I find them and post, you’ll see why… *smirk*

7% and Rising – it’s out, go get it!

7% and Rising released from Samhain yesterday. I’m still playing catch up on telling everyone, lol

So here’s the blurb and the cover that I love so much I entered it into the New Covey Awards. It’ll be up in December

7 and Rising cover

He used her. She can’t trust him. But the fire burns between them hotter than ever.

For Level Seven Observer Cahn Dal, her mission is simple—on the surface. Travel 700 years into the past, alter a complicated equation that will assure the continuation of this timeline, and slip out unnoticed. Except someone else got there first, and he’s waiting for her. Alexander Roen. The man she has loved since she was a teenager, and, to her disgust, finds she still desires as hot and as hard as ever.

Roen, former Level One Observer, known traitor to the Foundation, and hampered by an old injury, needs Cahn’s help to find out who’s behind a massive conspiracy to alter the timeline. His body isn’t too broken, though, to forget his long-denied passion for Cahn.

Cahn reluctantly agrees to help find the one piece of evidence that will solve Roen’s puzzle. But when she finds it, barely escaping with her life, they find it isn’t the end.

It’s just the beginning of a deeper nightmare, one filled with monsters of unimaginable horror.

It’s available here

Hopefully, my Read More tag has worked and you can read an excerpt after the jump, lol

Oops

Fracture did just that. Oops again.

It’s not a novella… it’s three, or possibly a short novel. Anyway, definitely what it isn’t is a 30k story that will be finished next week. Bugger. lol

So I’ve been looking at it again, to see what I need to change/add. I also need to work out a bit more of the structure of the final world Thalia and Patrick head off to as I’m struggling to get the ending. Of course that could also be the fact that I know the ending now has to be much longer.

I’m slow today as I went out with The Ent and some of Write Club. I’m past it. I only had three bottles of Budvar, but my kidney’s are aching and I’ve been mooching about all day. Argh.
