STELLARNET PRINCE: Book two of the Stellarnet Series

Release date November 12, 2012

An otherworldly love. Human blogger Genny O’Riordan shares two alien lovers: Duin, a leader of the Uprising, and Belloc, the only surviving member of the reviled Glin royal family. Their relationship has inspired millions of followers–and incited vicious anti-alien attacks.

A planet at risk. A Stellarnet obsessed with all things alien brings kidnappers, sex traffickers and environmental exploitation to Glin. Without weapons or communications technology, the planet cannot be defended. Glin will be ravaged and raided until nothing remains.

A struggle for truth. On Earth, Duin discovers a secret that could spur another rebellion, while on Glin, Belloc’s true identity could endanger their family and everything they’ve fought for. Have the Glin found true allies in humanity, or an even more deadly foe?

You can read the prologue here.

The following excerpt is sexy and exclusive:

Belloc’s voice was low and sultry in her ear. “More.” Begging, yearning, he repeated the word in Glinnish.

More? More what? She took as much of him as she could, rocking back on his full length, gliding on his smooth skin. His answering moan was like music, and she moved faster and harder until he joined her in ecstasy. His back arched as he cried out a stream of aqueous sounds she couldn’t translate. The passion he poured into her was all the more powerful because of the contrast with his usual reserve. In one, dazzling moment, he shared everything.

J’ni lost herself completely, until she felt his lips and the tip of his tongue, tasting droplets of salty sweat on her brow and the tears forced from the corners of her eyes in the fury of her release. Breathless and spent, she came back from the deep darkness of bliss and realized her arm was caught under his shoulder and her hand was falling asleep. And she was damn thirsty.

She lay beside him, her head on his shoulder. After a few minutes, he reached for her arm and touched the controls on her bracer, turning off the netcams. His gloves were somewhere on the floor.

She smiled. “’Lo, husband.”

“’Lo, wife.” He faced her, laying on his side, one leg lifted over her hip and drawing her as close as possible. “If I was from Earth, your new name would be J’ni Nidenn.”

“Maybe. Not everyone follows that tradition anymore. I might keep my name. Or you would be Belloc O’Riordan. Or we could be J’ni and Belloc O’Riordan-Nidenn.”

Belloc’s winsome smile was tinged with melancholy. He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, and traced the edge of her earlobe with his fingertip.

“Sometimes, I wish I was human.”

And you can also go here for the chance to win a r’naw eye necklace and free copies of Stellarnet Rebel and Stellarnet Prince!

Kathleen Scott’s SACRED SACRIFICES and contest!

Ok, so I never set out to write an inter-racial polyamorous erotic futuristic romance with heavy doses of political commentary…it just kind of happened. Well, that’s not entirely true, I did know from the offset that the second book in my Mystics and Warriors series (the first book is Bad Religion) would contain a menage where the three main characters ended in a relationship together. I just had no idea when I put fingers to keyboard how involved the characters’ backstory would become. And that’s just as well. I like my characters to surprise me as a write. I like to discover things about them that I didn’t know when I started writing the book. In the vernacular of the writer, I’ve become more pantser than plotter these days and the transition has lead me down some very interesting paths of late.

Such as with Sacred Sacrifices. I had this one scene planned out – Oh man, I could see it so clearly in my head. My heroine, Jerella, was going to have on a sheer red dress and seduce the enemy general, Keis. Yeah…did not happen that way. My characters had other plans, my scene–which I always knew would take place in a jail cell–ends up with Keis protecting her from his own men while trying to maintain a covert operation. In other words, the planned twists got tangled up and the book ended up with more depth and emotion because of it. It pays to listen to what the characters tell you. Sometimes it might hit you upside the head like it did when my main hero, Veric, decided to tell me he and Keis used to be lovers. Oh, really? Well, thanks for telling me before I finished writing the book. Luckily this came to me when I first starting writing scenes with Keis so it wasn’t such a hardship. If anything, it made the ties that bind the characters together stronger and offered me a chance to explore those aspects of their relationship like anger, betrayal and forgiveness.

I really enjoyed writing these characters and bringing them to life. I am currently working on book three of the saga, Ascendant Rising. I have a feeling this one is going to get very interesting as the characters begin to reveal themselves more clearly too me. Already the heroine, Lynx, has thrown me a huge curve ball. *sigh*

Now, here’s a blurb for your reading enjoyment and tantalization.

Blurb:

Sophite adja Jerella Montegro has crossed the length of the Sangrah Provinces to connect with a Unarion she’s only communicated with in her mind. Hunted by the theocrats on an order of execution, she has risked everything to come to the aid of the psychic sect she’s only heard of in stories. To bring them into the rebel fold with the Sophites and Drumas, it’s worth any price–including her life.

Unarion psychic Veric has spent the last few years mourning the betrayal of his lover, Keis, to the theocratic guards. Now, with the construction of a tower near the borders of his homeland, and the rift of a nexus opening in the city of Rimfel, he needs Jerella’s help to defeat the theocrats and their sinister plans once and for all.

Guard General Keis has given his all to the uniform he wears if only to bring his secret agenda to fruition. With Jerella and Veric in his crosshairs, he can’t lose. For what’s the promise of the future without a few sacrifices? But what’s his future without Jerella and Veric?

———————————–EXCERPT———————————–

“If you’re asking me to choose, I choose you.” His lips brushed over hers. “I always will.”

“You’ll leave when this job is over,” she said. He couldn’t deny the fact.

His eyes flashed dark. No longer warm tropical waters, they were storm tossed and forceful. When his smile came, it held a sharp edge. “I’ll take you with me.” He nipped at her lips, forcing them open so his tongue could dip inside.

Her eyes closed to better enjoy him. Desire roared to life between them, fanned the flames low in her belly until they licked along her insides.

Leaving wasn’t a possibility. When things cooled between them, he would realize she must stay. The break up would hurt, but they would both move on when his job was finished. He would return to his world while she remained here, in hers.

She groaned beneath his lips and he smiled against her mouth. God, she would miss him.

He traded his hold on the window for her. Cupped her shoulder, then smoothed down her back. Fisted the fabric of her shirt and tugged until his palm flattened against her spine, skin to glorious skin. She moaned into their kiss, leaned farther, reached for him, grabbed his belt loop, and tugged him flush against the wall, against her.

“Did you hear that?” His hand continued its downward trek, fingers teasing the waistband of her jeans and sneaking between the denim and her skin.

“I didn’t hear anything.” She nipped his bottom lip, slid her hand around his hip and into his back pocket. When she squeezed, his groan vibrated through their lips. Her other hand was making its way toward his other pocket when she heard it too—a familiar sharp, buzzing sound.

He broke their kiss. “You don’t hear that?”

Of all the times for Neve to arrive, this was the absolute worst. “It’s the doorbell.”

“You’re expecting someone this late?” As if remembering, he nodded. “Neve, right?”

“Right.” Chloe withdrew her hand from his back pocket. She didn’t even cop one last feel. It seemed kind of rude given the moment had passed. “You’re welcome to stay if you’d like.”

“Thanks, but I should go.” He traced over the elastic band of her panties. She couldn’t remember which pair she was wearing, but she sent up a quick prayer they were sexy.

The buzzing resumed and Chloe sighed. “I guess I’ll see you Monday, then.”

“Bright and early.” He stole a final kiss and withdrew. “Enjoy your weekend.”

“You too.” Before he turned, Chloe added, “Think about what I said, okay?”

“I’ve already made up my mind.” He sounded certain. “But we can finish this Monday.”

For a minute, her brain hazed over. Finish this? Finish what, exactly? Their conversation or where their hands had left off before they were interrupted?

———————————–CONTEST———————————–

In Soul Weaver, the hero, Nathaniel, traded his angel wings for a pair of shears that can slice rifts to anywhere in the world. Which had you rather have? Wings so you could soar at your leisure or shears that can cut an instant gateway anywhere you want to go?

Babette James and her new release, CLEAR AS DAY

I’m very happy to host Babette James today. Her debut novel is out now!

Thank you, Kim, for letting me visit and share a little about my debut novel, Clear As Day, a sweetly scorching contemporary romance from The Wild Rose Press.

Clear As Day about two friends with benefits facing the fears and uncertainties of their changing relationship and is set against the background of the summer heat and cool waters of Lake Mohave. I loved writing Clear As Day, it’s been a story of my heart in many ways, so seeing this story published is a dream come true. Receiving the 4 1/2 star scorcher review from Romantic Times and being able to hold my book in my hands have been truly thrilling moments. I hope you enjoy Nate and Kay’s journey as much as I have.

Blurb:
What’s a girl to do when her summer lover wants forever?

Haunted by dark memories of her parents’ volatile marriage, artist Kay Browning keeps her heart locked behind a free-spirit facade and contents herself with the comfortable affair she has every summer with easygoing photographer Nate Quinn.

The only trouble with her plan? This summer Nate’s come to Lake Mohave to claim the lover he can’t let go. He’s done with the endless traveling and settling for temporary homes and temporary loves. Kay’s always been more than just a vacation fling, and now he must convince this woman, who sees love as a course to certain heartbreak, to take that leap of faith and learn how safe love with the right man can be.

Excerpt:

If anything could beat waking to the sight of Kay’s beautiful face and breasts, at that moment Nate didn’t care.

She blushed and brushed a curl back from his forehead. “Hi there, sleepyhead.”

“Sorry I crashed on you.” He swept his gaze over her, enjoying how she flushed even deeper and her nipples tightened. Kay was a delicious mix of bashful and bold. “I’ve been seriously jet-lagged and road-lagged for days. Any phone calls or messages while I was out?” Guessing by the shifted shadows, he’d been out cold for a couple of hours. Not the most romantic move, but he felt rested.

His lame joke nudged a smile out of her. “Not a one.”

“One of the sincere advantages of no phone service.”

“You’re a nut, you know?” She leaned over and hesitantly kissed him. “I know I said it before, but I’m glad you’re here.” Kay was always soft-spoken, but the vulnerable note in her voice this time seized his heart hard.

With the I love you he wanted to say straining at his throat, Nate tugged Kay down into his arms and drifted his fingers over her spine. He had to do something about the tension gripping her. She’d stayed with him while he slept. That was a change, a very good one, but he still needed to soothe and distract her before she slipped away and disappeared into her thinking, planning, and painting. He let his hand circle in an easy, undemanding caress.

Why not say it? Doubts? No, no doubts at all. He felt it, he meant it, he’d even typed it into e-mails, but why keep swallowing his I love you now?

“So, you missed me?”

Her elusive grin flashed. “Well, it’s nice having someone else clean the fish for a change.” Soft giggles escaped her, and her tension released under his hand.

“Ah hah! An ulterior motive all along. Here I just thought you wanted my body.” He chuckled and tickled her side, and dove in for the sneak assault of kisses on her sensitive ears.

Want me for more.

Stifling her giggles, she caught his hand to her side. “Hmm…it is such a lovely body. I’m very fond of it.” She made a playful show of ogling him head to toe, her glowing smile making his formerly sated body wake right up and his heart crack with joy. He stroked his thumb over the lush handful of her breast, teasing the pert nipple, smiling at her catch of breath. “I may have mentioned I had some fantasies…” He tugged her over to straddle him and stroked his hands over the soft curves of her bottom.

“Anything in particular?” She leaned forward with her hair spilling over her shoulders, her breasts playing hide and seek behind the silky locks, and she teased her body over his rapidly hardening shaft.

Her eyes filled with laughter, and the sweet curve to her mouth was pure feminine mystery.
He sucked in his breath and arched under her. “Anything you want, babe.”

Want Han Solo wrapped in gold? Yes? Then step this way…

Yes, I’m giving away a copy of GAMBIT on Lex Valentine’s 30 Days of Christmas.  Lex is also giving away a paranormal title from her back list.

Captain Chae Beyon is a hustler, a mercenary pilot, a wounded woman who prefers her men to be easily thrown aside.

Daned Traern is a first-caste Ladaian bound by tradition and DNA to protect his race. He’s willing to align himself with the hot space captain if she’ll transport him home in time to ensure the right candidate is crowned—and thus prevent a bloody war.

Disguised as Chae’s sex toy, Daned is erotically bound to her through living gold, alien tech designed to increase pleasure. When he frees himself, their passion only increases…but succumbing to temptation will bind them together—permanently.

But there’s more at stake than their needs. As Chae is dragged into a world of insane princes and sentient stones, hired killers hound them across the quadrant.

And then, as only her lousy luck would have it, Chae must choose between the good of the galaxy and her own heart…

Oh and the Han Solo reference comes from the idea that spawned this book.  I was watching Return of the Jedi, with Leia in her little gold slave bikini and was thinking how much better Han Solo would look wrapped up in gold. With a leash… And Daned Traern was born 🙂

Here’s a snippet from RED IN TOOTH AND CLAW:

“Red suits you.”

His voice was little more than a growl and it warmed my skin, fluttering excitement deep into my belly. Shadows surrounded the high backed chair in which he sat. Flickers of light from the fireplace caught his sharp profile, shifting, lighting the burn of his silver eyes. My mark wasn’t quite human, I was sure of it. The remote hall, the obvious wealth, the secrecy. He had to be one of the rare preternaturals.

“Thank you.” I didn’t know what else to say. My being in the hall, in this starkly empty room with him was…hazy. The reason was important, I felt it down to the bone and something about that made me glance at the red silk of my cape. It was the only thing I wore. I frowned. I didn’t remember driving up to the hall, slipping out of my street clothes, changing… Heat from the fire warmed the silk, distracting me and the material brushed against my bared legs like the kiss of a lover.

I forced a smile to twitch across my mouth and lifted the thick sheaf of paper in my hand. The splotch of a broken seal gleamed along its edges. Not that I remembered snapping the seal open. I glanced at the heavy copperplate lettering that simply stated my name, a time and that day’s date. “The…agency hasn’t given me your name.”

“Balthasar.”

“Balthasar…?”

“My last name isn’t important.” He sat forward and firelight licked his features.

My chest tightened and I stared. I hadn’t expected him to be quite so…beautiful—all hard male planes and those silver-edged eyes that burned into me. His black shirt clung to his chest, his muscled arms, bare, browned and dusted with hair. Strong hands flexed. A dark ring gleamed on his right hand.

“So…” I took a step towards him, my bare feet soundless in the deep pile of the rug. I wet my lips. “What do you expect of me?”

His gaze drifted down over the length of my body and made me too aware of the brushing silk of my long cape. “I expect to fuck you.”

The Guild Chronicles, Book 1

As a prized psychic, Eva’s lived her entire life inside the Guild Compound. While sex isn’t exactly forbidden, she’s rarely indulged—such encounters could swamp her sensitive gift.

A chance encounter with Aidan, a sexy Guild Security Officer, rocks her to the core when she sees herself entangled in his arms. She fights the unfamiliar surge of lust and tries to focus on the job at hand, the interrogation of the subversive Rafael. Yet she discovers that he’s no terrorist. In fact, his capture is a ploy, a way for him and Aidan to infiltrate the Guild with one goal in mind: Eva.

At first Eva fights her captors, but once outside the Guild’s sheltered walls, she realizes she is free. Free to live and love as she pleases. And her two rebels please her indeed, introducing her to erotic pleasures she never imagined. Even as Eva dares to dream of a future with her lovers, she fears for their lives. The Guild wants her back. And that’s not all they want…

“Everlong” by Hailey Edwards

The most damaged heart can fly with the right pair of wings.

For years she’s lived among a colony of escaped slaves as her guardian’s widow. Even in this simple life, though, nothing is as it seems. Her hero kept a secret—a younger brother named Clayton Delaney. Warrior, winged demon…and the man who now wants to lay claim to her heart. No longer cast in his brother’s shadow, Clayton meets all obstacles head on, including one named Maddie. His infatuation with her reaches the breaking point when she undergoes a royal rite of passage, going into heat and pushing them both over the edge.

Just as Maddie learns that some risks are worth taking, she discovers that her guardian may be alive. And she’s forced to make a choice between the man she’d thought she loved, and the demon willing to lend her his wings.

Warning: This book contains virginal angst, a hero who’s too nice for his own good, wings, claws, and convenient use of glamour. It contains heartbreaking loss, conversation with a woodland creature, and sweet, sweet demon loving.

Thomas Lyons is your average cat shifter. Cool, seductive…and bored out of his mind. With the new popularity of all things paranormal, he doesn’t see why he should hide anymore. When his half-demon technophile roommate hooks him up with a computer, Thomas starts a blog announcing to the world who and what he is. Oddly enough, the more he shares, the less he’s believed. In fact, people begin thinking it’s a new online series with fantastic effects.

Margo Sheffield doesn’t dance on tables anymore, not since her reckless naïveté cost her so much. These days, her only guilty pleasures are dark chocolate, shoes—and a certain website with a man whose purring voice sends shivers down her spine. When the show, Shifting Reality, offers a week in a haunted Scottish castle with the stars, it seems a far-off dream. But when that dream becomes reality, her boss’s insistence that she mix business with pleasure—or else—is more like a nightmare.

Thomas’s focus on the show is blown by the luscious, camera-shy handful. And Margo can barely think about contracts when she’s surrounded by newlywed ghost hunters, a matchmaking demon and a man whose addictive touch makes her head spin. A showmance is the last thing she needs, but with a sexy cat like Thomas on the prowl…she just can’t resist.

Warning: Tons of explicit sex. A cat shifter with an oral fixation, voyeurism, anal sex, sex in pantries, with ghosts…you get the idea.
