Introducing…

Jarod Vae

Jarod’s nursing a drink. The small table is littered with discarded empties. I push myself into the threadbare chair. He doesn’t look up.

“You’ve left me in the middle of Chapter Twelve to do this.”

“I know. I’m sorry.”

A smile tugs at his mouth, bitter, twisted. “Like hell you are.” He drains the bottle and points to the barman for a refill. “You want me to take on this place for a while?” He sits back and his silver gaze sparks in the lamp light. His mouth twitches. I refuse to let my nails curl into my palms. “Then there will be conditions.”

I lift my chin. He’s mine. He doesn’t intimidate me. Much. “No conditions, Jarod.”

“Really?”

The barman puts the cold bottle on the table and looks at me. I shake my head. I wait for him to leave before I turn back to Jarod. “Should I ask Fen?”

Something shifts in his gaze. I know what it is. I wonder does he. He picks up his fresh bottle. “Leave her out of this.”

I shrug. “If you’re unwilling…” I leave it hanging. Pushing my chair back, I smile at him. “I’m sure she’ll share exactly what she thinks of you-“

“Fine.” He bites out the word. “Tomorrow.”

“You’re just having that Chapter Twelve feeling again.”

“Be glib,” he mutters. His cold glare pins me and I remember just how powerful I made Jarod Vae. Lord of the Inner Circle. Bone Magician. Chaos in human form. “But at the end, I’ll remember this.”

The end. I ignore the twist in my gut.

His harsh laughter follows me out of the bar.

Am I crazy??

Okay… trying for the two blog approach. The fact that I have trouble updating one blog on a daily basis is hard enough, without me throwing this into the mix… but here I go.

Under the name of Kim Knox… I write fantasy romance.

I didn’t think about writing under two names at the very beginning. However, I’d had a few surprised reactions about me writing both comtemporary and fantasy. So I’m trying to avoid confusion and disappointment. I hope, LOL

Since my I really should be writing Blog is my struggle with hobbits, ents and unruly wizards i.e. my family with a bit of general bit of writing thrown in, I’m going to try something different with this one.

I was thinking of letting my characters run it. A weekly turn, maybe.

I’ll see how it goes… eep

Alchemy

The Alchemy first chapter, which I thought, I could wrap up pretty easily, now needs another scene and a fair bit of twiddling for the rest of it. *grrr*

Still Alesh is fun to write *grin*

But first, I have to but Fen waist deep in effulent…

I got distracted

Typing my way through Bone Magician, I had this sudden need to read Relcuant. So I skimmed it. The prologue was new (Me = Prologue Queen) and I jumped to Chapter Four – cos the first three chapters I know far too well, LOL

I completely forgot I wrote an entire new scene for the beginning of Chapter Four. I love doing that. I could read it objectively. And then I had to quickly knock out a new crown. Angst Empress. There’s a darkness to Reluctant. But I can’t write light, I’ve tried and then I have to turn around and make my characters’ lives hell again.

Makes me want to write an angsty story again, LOL

And another one…

I just found another review at Coffeetimeromance:

The writing style is excellent and Kim Rees certainly knows how to set up anticipation. The sex scenes are well written and the character reactions are real. This book is a good read and I hope to see Ms Rees’s writing continue to develop as she has the skills to write very emotionally layered characters.

Isn’t that nice? *grin*

Reviews, review, reviews

I’m still on a review high, LOL Here are snippets from the latest 3:

4 Blue Ribbons
THE BILLIONAIRE’S SEDUCTION definitely seduced this reader out of her sleep. As Kim Rees sweeps us along for a roller coaster ride of desire and espionage, one can’t help but root for Emily and Jake as they struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other. Definitely worth losing sleep over Kim’s particular style of story telling and wry sense of humor.

Readers will wonder if these two will ever get their acts together but don’t despair, author Kim Rees provides a redeeming and loving ending

Blog-free zone

I’m guilty of neglecting my blog this week… but it’s half term for Frodo and Samwise, so I think I can be forgiven, LOL

I’m still ploughing my way through Bone Magician. Jarod’s back, so I’m happy again *smirk*

I’m off to Northumberland for an Ent family wedding. There’ll be plenty of Hoom Homing, I’m sure… *sigh*

Another busy day

My house, after 3 years, is still in the process of needing decoration.

Slowly, slowly, slowly I’m getting there and I’m winning the battle against the woodchip.

Today, was another strategic move to get the rooms how I want them, because today I sorted out my old room at Grandma Gandalf’s house. This is part of a cunning plan to sort out my back bedroom here. Bear with me. It might make sense. Then again, I’ve had a whole bottle of beer… so it might not.

1. Clear strip and paint Samwise’s room and move him into it… but to do that the old study furniture needs to go somewhere else.

2. Move study furniture to back room… but the back room already has old shelves.

3. Sort out my old room at Grandma Gandalfs (as I’ve been promising for 11 years *blush*) and she can have the shelving units from the back room.

4. Ah… but all the stuff now needs a home in the back room.

5. Move the excess cupboards from the morning room to the back room and throw in some shelving.

6. Bugger. Now the morning room needs something to stand the fish on.

7. The fish can have tallboy from my bedroom. Oh and the table from the hall, currently squatting on the back landing can go under the morning room window.

8. As a ‘move-excess-stuff-from-my-bedroom drive’ Frodo can have the chest of drawers. And we can have new wardrobes.

9. I’m not even mentioning the carpets, French windows, or demolishing the garage.

See? Not so complicated.

And you wonder why I never have any time to write.
