Oops… Started another one

Still waiting to see whether the course will develop into something that I want to go to…

But I did my homework this morning. Not the homework set… but it did seem to be fluid. So I started Alchemist, the story I planned to write after Reluctant. I have a rough outline and idea of the characters. Though a new one just popped out about 400 words in 🙂

After Relcutant, I’ll probably Snowflake the thing. Though I seemed to have used up my joy in the Snowflake with Exploding. Which is a shame. Can’t seem to get into it again. Maybe it was Reluctant. That’s mostly character and emotion over a few days.

Exploding does exactly what it says on the box.

Today’s Excuse…

Only got about 300 words down today… but I do need to plan the next bit out in finer detail. Honest.

Also my night course is starting. *grin* Building fictional words. Twenty weeks. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get the next fantasy sorted out – ready to write after Reluctant… Wow it almost looks like a plan.

Well, back to reading through Exploding Mule, while my subconscious ponders and plots.

Reading…

I read through the first 20k of Reluctant.

Surprisingly, the first three chapters are okay *grin*. Four and Five are getting there. Now it’s the joy of the middle. I hate the middle. I know I have to push everything forward to reach the ‘black moment’ or whatever other term you want to use. But middles drag. And the worse place of all is the middle of the middle. Argh.

Plus the fact that it’s about 20k of angst and sex…

It’s a tough job, isn’t it…?

Two stories!

Woo Hoo

Two short stories are in the October issue of Deep Magic!
Hopefully, I’ll be able to post these on the website at some point in the future. Deep Magic is a PDF download ezine. http://www.deep-magic.net/

Oren’s Blade
A feud taken to a knife edge…
It’s the second half of the story that appeared in the September issue. Vote for me! Please…

His Favourite
A demon-possessed doll with OCD *grin*

Anyway, back to Reluctant. I think it’s about to get very interesting…

Half way point is in sight

Coming up to the mid point of the current wip. Which is cool. Realised yesterday that there’s going to be a lot more naughtiness with this pair than I was expecting. I think if I pushed it, the book could be Romantica… but I’m going to stick to Sex with Angst. There’s nothing quite like it *smirk*

Also got my credits page done for the website. Could be launched next week. Depends on sorting the images out. I don’t have much arty software, so I’m going down a very convoluted route to shrink good images to the right size.

It’s going to look great… mainly because I didn’t design it.

And today I wrote some more

And another 1100 words joins the ranks.

Not bad. Considering I had a horrendous day with the two small monsters. Nope. Not going there. This is a blog about writing. Though today I began to wonder whether I went temporarily insane when I decided to have children…

Got a bit more of the website sorted. The extracts are up. The short, though maybe not sweet, About Me Blurb is done. Weird trying to describe yourself in 200 words or less. I deliberately made it short. My stories are the interesting bits. They are. Really. Go read them. Next April you can buy one.

That’s not getting old *grin*

Woo Hoo

Got almost 1300 words written. Very cool. The scene took a rather… unexpected… turn *smirk*, but it works, so that’s okay. I’m a very happy bunny, who has to get off this chair. I type with my legs on the table and the laptop on my legs. Not exactly Health and Safety, I know. But sitting normally is a pain. Well more of a pain.

Got to go and get Samwise up from his nap and start his first lunch. Then I have to pick Frodo up from school. Always fun.

Still, 1300 words. Woo hoo!

Bad day/Good day? I don’t know anymore

Just got an email from Liquid Silver Books. My comtemporary should be looked at in the next thirty days. It would be very nice to have them offer a contract. It wouldn’t just be having two books accepted. Their covers are beautiful.

Also thought about how to move Reluctant on. It’s stalled. I need to look at my theme, inject that into the scene and move on. And hope it works. My knowledge of the plot is a little thin… but I’m trying to keep it uncomplicated and have as little interaction with secondary characters as I can. Billionaire got rejected by the paper publisher for that reason.

I hate plot.

I can do characters, settings, spit out sparks of sexual tension… Even write really good sex *smirk*. But plot? Plot eludes me. Always has. Something in my brain doesn’t like plot. Oh, and analysing stuff. That is very annoying, too.

Anyway. I should get that moved on tomorrow. I need to fix my writing time if this is going to be a career, not a hobby. But that probably means getting a good night’s sleep. And that really isn’t happening.

Ho hum, roll on October. I’ll have three short stories out that month. Very cool.

Shame about the distinct lack of payment, though.
